I’m Perfect! Embracing Perfection In Imperfection

What if we were to embrace imperfection instead of shunning it?

What if we were to see beauty in the cracks and flaws, recognizing them as integral parts of the experience?

It’s easy to overlook the beauty that resides within imperfection. After working on the first story of my mid-grader series for five years, I finally learned to let go and walk away—my perfectionism was a double-edged sword. As much as it pushed me to pursue excellence, it stifled me from moving forward onto the next book. Others, such as developmental editors, copyeditors, proofreaders, and web designers, are better equipped to bring about the perfection I sought.

Perfectionism sets an unattainable standard; prisoners of our own expectations, shackling us by the fear of falling short.

Accepting imperfection doesn’t mean settling for mediocrity. It means understanding that perfection is an illusion, an unattainable ideal that only serves to limit our potential. It means striving for excellence while acknowledging that setbacks and failures are inevitable stepping stones on the path to success.

Since I let go of my perfectionist expectations, new opportunities have opened. I still strive for excellence, but I’ve realized that perfection lies in the imperfect journey of growth… and Self-discovery.
